How to Freshen Up Your Style

Nov 1st, 2011 Henry Douglas

Your budget shouldn't be what determines your sense of style and fashion. There are ways to keep a fresh look on a limited budget and what you have in your wardrobe. It's all about putting a little more effort and planning well with your dollars. This guide gives you a few tips for simple and inexpensive ways to freshen up your style.

1. Wear more color

Adding color to your wardrobe is always a nice way to freshen up. Wearing a T-shirt of a light color perhaps under a v-neck sweater, or putting on a new shirt or sweater. Neutral colors and dull colors will make you look gloomy. You can mix things up with bright colors to liven things up a bit. But the most important thing is to wear color near your face since that is where it will have the most impact and keep you from looking washed out.

Budget limiting should never be an excuse for a bad wardrobe. There are always shopping sales where you can get great clothing at reduced prices. Always be on the lookout for such.

2. Seek out a new pair of glasses/sunglasses

The right glasses on you will always make you look fashion sensible. Whether you just add it to a pair of jeans and a simple t-shirt. You should probably have more than one. At least two, one pair that is bold and another pair that is more subdued. This will ensure that you always have the right one to go with your different lighted clothes and your mood. Cool shades are always a good thing and we all know how they are one of the ultimate fashion accessories.

3. Treat yourself to one or two super pieces

Get about one or two pieces to enhance your stylish look. A great looking sporty coat or a leather jacket will always do the trick for you. What you go for should be something you will wear on a regular basis and something that is a bit flattering.

4. Sport a snappy belt

Get a cool belt with a big buckle. That will be a show stopper. The trend nowadays has been towards elaborate belts with unique buckles. Surprisingly enough you will get some pretty cheaply, even cheaper than more decent formal belts.

5. Avoid tattered shoes

Old tattered shoes will not get you anywhere. I don't care if you wear dress shoes or sneakers, keep them looking their best. This may just mean getting a shoe shine or picking up a new pair altogether.

6. Get a groovy watch

A groovy nice looking watch will always make you look good in almost anything. You can perhaps get a couple to match your different clothing. Since men don't have many options when it comes to jewelry, this is a great way to express yourself as well as liven up your look.

And remember don't go too tight or too loose. It is important to make your body looked proportioned. Avoid wearing tight jeans and a loose shirt. This causes you to look top-heavy. Wear slim-fitting (not tight!) jeans and slim-fitting shirts. If you choose to wear shorts, you usually want a wider leg than you would on a pair of pants. That provides a balance, as you only have half as much length.
